Both the common cold and flu are viral illnesses that have similar symptoms, such as runny nose, cough and sore throat. Colds are usually milder and affect the nasopharynx, while flu usually presents with more severe symptoms that include high fever and joint and muscle pain.
Especially in autumn and winter, when there is less sun and vitamins, the body’s defenses decrease and the immune system needs extra strength to successfully fight the viruses around us.
What is recommended for children and adults to prevent colds and flu?
AquaSource offers several products that strengthen the immune system in infants, children and adults, provide complete nourishment for the body’s cells and are an invaluable aid in the prevention and treatment of all types of viral infections.
ColActive and ColActive 3 – ready antibodies against 20 types of microbes
Destroys the causes of colds if they are any of these 20 species. In addition, it helps to restore the mucous membranes (together with Fatty Acid Complex) and is a good protection against the so-called conditionally pathogenic microbes that are present in the body but usually do not make it sick. When we are attacked by new microbes, we have to focus on them and so we have no energy left to control the others. So at the slightest suspicion that someone in your family has a cold, give colostrum immediately! It is best taken prophylactically all winter (on an empty stomach with a glass of water) 1 capsule daily for children and 2 capsules for adults. For more information see the products ColActive and ColActive 3.

How can we tell the difference between a cold and the flu?
Cold
A cold is an acute and non-specific upper respiratory tract infection that occurs most often in winter, passes in about 3 to 7 days and is characterized by relatively mild symptoms such as fever up to 38C, sneezing, sore throat, stuffy nose, runny nose, dry cough, etc.
The common cold is mainly caused by the following viruses: rhinovirus, coronavirus, adenovirus and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the latter being most common in young children.
Influenza
Influenza is an airborne infection that is caused by a virus known as influenza. It exists in several varieties that are constantly mutating. That is why every autumn-winter season is characterized by its new influenza viruses, which differ from the ones known to our immune system.
The highly contagious influenza virus usually attacks the body through the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose or eyes after contact with a sick person when coughing or sneezing.
Influenza has an incubation period of 1 to 5 days after contact with a carrier virus, and in most cases the infection progresses as a mild cold.
Influenza is characterized by a sudden onset with high fever and chills, general fatigue and weakness, muscle aches, headache, cough and sometimes runny nose and sore throat.
Young children and the elderly with chronic or acute illnesses and lowered defences are particularly at risk from influenza.
