Many of us realise that to truly enjoy all that life has to offer, we want healthy and flexible joints. With healthy joints, it is more enjoyable to play with our children or grandchildren, go for a walk with a friend or loved one, or play sports. You know – the fun stuff that creates great memories. Millions of people, of all ages, can benefit from the extra support of flexibility in our joints so that we can enjoy to the fullest the opportunities that life has to offer and so it usually becomes even more enjoyable. So what strategies can we use to keep our joints healthy and flexible, no matter how old we are? The most important ones are: the right type and duration of exercise; achieving an optimal weight; healthy eating and taking the right supplements.
(1) Exercise
Non-strenuous exercise is good for the joints as well as general health. If you haven’t been exercising regularly, start slowly and gradually increase the workload, starting with walking, yoga or tai chi. Or start with swimming if your joints are in not so good condition.
(2) Achieve your optimal weight
Each additional pound of body mass increases the load on the knee by about 4 pounds. Extra fat tissue in the body also increases inflammation through pro-inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The closer you are to your optimal weight, the easier it will be to perform the exercises that will help you maintain your normal weight, while also reducing inflammation. It really is a win-win cycle. Inflammation affects not only the joints and muscles, but also the heart and brain, so it’s really important to fight it using natural remedies.
(3) Improve your nutrition – Healthy foods to include:
Green leafy vegetables, fatty fish (like wild Alaskan salmon), pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds, almonds and walnuts, organic brown rice, oats, quinoa, beans, lentils, chicken, turkey, lamb, broccoli, celery , and most other vegetables, cherries and dark small fruits, fresh pineapple, spices such as garlic, turmeric and ginger, rosemary, apple cider vinegar, lots of water. Use coconut oil for cooking and Himalayan salt for seasoning.
Foods to avoid: wheat products, dairy products, hydrogenated vegetable oils, large amounts of red meat, processed foods such as: bacon, shellfish, peanuts, citrus fruits, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant; sugar, sweeteners, carbonated/sweet soft drinks, alcohol, (Natural sweeteners xylitol and stevia may be used, but avoid all others.)
(1) Get plenty of sunlight – In summer, the body can produce vitamin D from sunlight. It is often difficult to expose our skin to enough ultraviolet radiation to
maintain healthy vitamin D levels. That’s why it’s a good idea to take this vitamin as a supplement in the fall, winter and spring.
(2) Take AquaSource Flexibility and Mobility. This great product contains a carefully thought out combination of ingredients for the health of your joints (such as high quality collagen and chondroitin, Regenasure® glucosamine hydrochloride, celadrin, olive leaf benolea, Opti-MSM, hop extract, aloe
vera and hyaluronic acid). To effectively deal with joint problems there are three aspects that need to be addressed and for which AquaSource Flexibilty is designed:
IMPORT
There are many different reasons why the joint area may become inflamed, but swelling in these vital bony areas is usually painful, restricts movement and needs to be addressed before any other physiological aspects. Flexibilty contains olive leaf extract, Opti-MSM and aloe vera for this purpose.
CARTILAGE REPAIR
Cartilage is a type of connective tissue. It is made of cells introduced into a matrix and reinforced with fibers of collagen protein. The hyaline cartilage makes up the majority of the body’s cartilage – it connects the bones in the joints, which aids smooth gesturing. Flexibilty contains high quality collagen and chondroitin, two essential components of cartilage that are vital for its daily renewal. Chondroitin prevents cartilage breakdown and also helps rejuvenate cells. Hyaluronic acid is added to aid in hyaline production. The formula contains hops extract, which has been shown to suppress inflammation.
MOBILITY
Glucosamine is found naturally in the body, where it helps build tissues that retain water, providing cartilage density and giving it a springing effect.
AquaSource Flexibility contains Regenasure® glucosamine hydrochloride – the best vegetarian form of glucosamine that can be found. Due to the special manufacturing process of Regenasure®, this ingredient contains 83% glucosamine compared to 65% in glucosamine sulfate. Flexibilty additionally contains celadrin. It is derived from specific fatty acids and systemically lubricates cell membranes, which provides better fluidity and elasticity.
This involves improving the fluids that serve as a buffer between the bones and joints. Tests show that combining celadrin with glucosamine creates a natural synergy that ensures greater joint mobility. Benolea® – a special, patented olive leaf extract that may help maintain blood circulation. Opti-MSM – provides additional nutritional support in the joint area. Sulphur is often found near hot springs and volcanic craters, and is one of the main minerals included in traditional transdermal mineral therapies, such as mineral bath therapy, thalassotherapy (seawater therapy), and mud therapy. Aloe Vera – a special 200 times concentrated extract of the plant is included to support the other ingredients. Directions for use:Take two capsules daily with meals. For maximum effect, take up to four capsules daily.
